APARTMENTS & PENTHOUSES / BIFORIUM

GLAZING FOR
APARTMENTS & PENTHOUSES

An apartment presents a different problem from a private house. There is usually an existing façade, limited access, neighbours, finished reveals and building rules. A good solution should improve daylight, quietness and comfort without turning a window replacement into an endless renovation.

Apartments & Penthouses — BIFORIUM

CONTEXT

In a city apartment, the installation strategy matters as much as the system.

Before replacement, we look at what can remain and what genuinely needs to change. Existing sills, exterior flashings, façade joints and interior reveals often define the real installation depth more accurately than a drawing. With larger panoramic units, we also check how the glass can physically reach the floor and where it can be handled safely during installation.

For apartments on busy streets, acoustic performance may matter more than chasing the deepest frame. On a strongly exposed façade, by contrast, a standard low-e unit may not solve summer overheating. We build the specification around the actual room: orientation, floor level, noise, size and ventilation strategy.

APPROACH

What we check in an apartment project

01

Street noise and the weak points of the complete envelope: glass, gaskets and installation joint.

02

Solar orientation and the risk of overheating next to large glazed areas.

03

Delivery access through lifts, stairs, façade openings or lifting equipment.

04

The condition of existing junctions so the new window does not force unnecessary interior demolition.

SYSTEMS

Here the choice is often governed as much by the existing opening, element weight, floor access and retained finishes as by the architecture itself. We start with those building constraints.

START A PROJECT

We can review your drawings.

For a first review, photos of the existing windows, approximate dimensions and the project address are enough. A plan or elevation is useful if available, but it is not required to start.
