CONTEXT
In Kharkiv, the façade grid also needs a close look at thermal perimeter zones.
In Kharkiv curtain-wall design, the thermal behaviour of opaque zones and perimeter junctions matters as much as the centre of the glass. Anchors, slab edges and locations where aluminium crosses the insulation line all need attention.
A glass façade is a spatial system in which profiles, glazing, fixings, seals and drainage work together. The façade grid cannot be defined by composition alone: mullion and transom spacing is checked against loads, deflection, infill weight and available fixing conditions.
Summer solar gains can be equally significant across large elevations. Glass coating, internal comfort targets and the transparent-area ratio should be considered together rather than after the framing system has already been chosen.
ENGINEERING
Resolve it before fabrication.
At an early stage we coordinate the façade module, mullion and transom depth, pressure-cap or structural-joint concept, glass make-up, opaque zones, opening elements and drainage. Large panes are also reviewed against production formats and installation sequence.
In addition to mullion and glass structural checks, the climate makes slab edges, opaque zones and anchor locations particularly important. These are often the weakest parts of the thermal envelope.

What we need for an initial review.
For a first engineering pass, we need the module grid, fixing-point heights and one vertical section through an opaque zone. That reveals the main structural and thermal risks quickly.
Opening drawings
Module grid with mullion spacing, storey levels and locations where the façade needs to accommodate building movement.
Architectural context
Façade expression, opaque infill zones, capped or structural glazing appearance and any glass-corner locations.
Glazing requirements
Largest glass formats, coating, heat treatment, safety requirements and acceptable colour variation between modules.
Installation conditions
Anchor layout, allowable slab movement, insulation at fixing zones and access to external seals after installation.
