TECHNICAL DETAIL / BIFORIUM
DRAINAGE & WATER
Reliable glazing provides a controlled route for water to leave the assembly safely. System drainage, terrace and external discharge need to work together.
DETAIL LOGIC
What should be resolved before installation.
Sealant is important, but it is not a substitute for drainage geometry. Where water can collect, there needs to be a physical exit route and access for maintenance.
CHECKPOINTS
We review the junction as a system.
Drainage openings
System outlets are kept clear of insulation, sealant and finishes.
External channel
A channel in front of a threshold works only with adequate discharge and cleaning access.
Membranes
Waterproofing is turned into the assembly so water cannot migrate behind the internal airtight line.
Backup scenario
At critical zones we consider where water goes during intense rain, blockage or surcharge of the external drainage system.
