TECHNICAL DETAIL / BIFORIUM
WINDOW IN INSULATION
Moving the frame towards the insulation plane can reduce the geometric thermal bridge, but only when bearing and fixing are designed for the unit weight and wind loads.
DETAIL LOGIC
What should be resolved before installation.
This is not a universal “move the window by X mm” recipe. Frame position depends on wall build-up, insulation, unit mass, fixing strategy and facade finish.
CHECKPOINTS
We review the junction as a system.
Structural bearing
The frame must not rely on foam or membranes for load transfer. Supports carry weight back to the primary structure.
Frame position
The frame axis is coordinated with insulation thickness, facade build-up and internal reveals.
Internal airtightness
The airtight layer should remain continuous around the perimeter, including corners and material transitions.
External protection
The outer layer should resist weather while allowing the assembly to dry as intended.
